One of the main features of iOS 11 is that Apple has now started to store photos as HEIC format on iOS devices. A lot of users are skeptical, although believe it or not; the HEIC format is ideal when it comes to storage. Let’s get the best HEIC Viewer for your Windows/Mac/Android. Unlike, JPEG, HEIC photos have a much smaller file size meaning that you can take a lot more photos without worrying about storage. The only problem is that with iTunes, you aren’t able to selectively export HEIC photos and in this article, we’ll be showing you how.

Advantages of HEIC Format

If you still aren’t convinced that the HEIC format is a huge improvement over using JPEG, below are some of the advantages of using HEIC instead of JPEG.

  • HEIC is a lossless compression format
  • HEIC allows you to edit the image and save it
  • HEIC allows you to save audio or text with your photos
  • HEIC has a much smaller file size in comparison to JPEG

As you can see, having your photos stored in HEIC format is definitely a step up from JPEG, and while it might take a while to get used to it, it’s definitely worth transferring your photos to your computer using this format.
