Part 3. How to Transfer Data from iPhone 6S to iPhone X by iTunes

Next on our list is iTunes. This might seem like the best method for some people because iTunes is a free program, but anyone who has used iTunes will tell you that it’s full of bugs and that it isn’t a great program to use. Nonetheless, if you don’t use either of the programs above you can use this.

#1 – Start by downloading, installing and launching iTunes on your computer.

#2 – Connect your old iPhone and click on the device icon at the top of the program.

#3 – From the menu on the left, click on “Summary” and click on the “Back Up Now” button.

#4 – Once the backup has been taken, turn on your iPhone X for the first time and follow the setup steps until you reach “Set Up iPhone“.

#5 – From this display, tap on the “Restore from iTunes Backup” option and connect your new iPhone X to the computer with a USB cable.

#6 – Back to iTunes, you will be shown a backup restoration page. Check the “Restore from” option and select the most recent backup.

#7 – If prompted to enter a password to decrypt the backup go ahead and do so. After a few minutes, you will have successfully transfer data from iPhone 6S to iPhone X.

While iTunes is an inefficient program to use and takes significantly longer than the other methods that we have shown you so far, everyone has access to iTunes so that this method might be the best choice for some people.

Part 4. How to Transfer Data from iPhone 6S to iPhone X by iCloud

The final method that we are going to show you, which should only be used as a last resort, is with iCloud. While this is one of the options that you have, iCloud uses your internet connection, so this is the longest method to use. Thus, it’ll take longer for you to start exploring your iPhone X.

#1 – Start by taking your old iPhone, unlocking it, launching the “Settings” application, and tapping on “iCloud“.

#2 – Swipe down to the “Backup” option and tap on it. From this menu, make sure that “iCloud Backup” is enabled and tap on the “Back Up Now” button.

#3 – iCloud will now begin to take a backup of your device’s data. This should take a few minutes although it depends on your internet speeds.

#4 – Once iCloud has taken the backup, take your new iPhone X and turn it on.

#5 – Follow the setup steps which are shown until you reach the page entitled “Set Up iPhone“.

#6 – From this menu, tap on the “Restore from iCloud Backup” option.

#7 – A list of backups that are stored on your iCloud account will now be shown. Select the most recent backup, and your iPhone will begin to restore it.

#8 – After about 15 minutes of downloading the backup, it will be restored onto your iPhone X.

If you have slow broadband speeds, then it’s best to avoid this method altogether. Even though iCloud has its useful features, it’s not worth using iCloud to transfer data from iPhone 6S to iPhone X.

To Conclude

You don’t have to use the standard method of iTunes to transfer data from iPhone 6S to iPhone X. Take a look at all of the methods which we have shown you above and decide which is the easiest for you to use. We highly recommend using either dr.fone – Phone Transfer or dr.fone toolkit – iOS Data Backup & Restore as both are easy to use and come with a lot of other features too, meaning that you will continue to use them even after the transfer process is complete. That being said, feel free to use iTunes or iCloud too.
